1 / 5Al Ain Zoo
📍 Shiab Al Ashkhar, Abu Dhabi
Al Ain Zoo houses 200+ animal species including hippos, rhinos and crocodiles across vast naturalistic grounds. Families can join guided safari tours, attend feeding shows, and visit the petting zoo. Allow a minimum of three hours.
Our first visit to Al Ain Zoo was truly an unforgettable experience. I went there with my family and friends, and from the beginning until the end, we enjoyed every moment. We were already impressed at the entrance because of the honesty and kindness of the staff. The local ladies at the ticketing counter returned the extra payment made by our senior mother, which we truly appreciated. Inside the zoo, the staff welcomed us with warm smiles that made us feel comfortable right away. Special thanks to Gilbert, Chito, and Junmark for patiently assisting us, answering our questions, and guiding us throughout the day. We also had fun with the amazing face painting by Liza and Glen they were very talented and friendly! Our trip from Dubai was absolutely worth it, and we will definitely recommend this place to our friends. Thank you for such a memorable experience. 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The go-to full-day wildlife destination for UAE families. Younger children are captivated by the petting zoo and feeding shows; older kids and adults get genuine value from the safari tour. January to March visits benefit from mild walking weather. Budget at least half a day — rushing this zoo shortchanges the experience.

“Very well organized and clean. Tickets can be bought online but you would lose Fazza discount as you need to tell them you have it to get it! Nevertheless, you still can getvit by calling them and reserve the tickets with your name, pay once you get there. We took the zoo tour that lasted for more than an hour little bit. There is a Safari tour that lasts longer but we kept for another visit, inshaAllah ♡ The cart took us to all animal areas whereby we stopped, fed and took pictures. The staff are very polite and freindly. Very well informed and explained every thing, thank you Mr. Khamis Aleisaei for the informative tour you gave us. Winter time and early mornings are best times to visit as you get to see most of the huge nimber if animales, plus you will enjoy the long walks with the breeze. The sevounire shope is full of beautiful, catchy things to buy so have some time to visit it👌 #higly_recommended 👍🏻”

“Visiting Al Ain Zoo in January was perfect. The weather was mild and comfortable, making it ideal for walking through such a vast park. To really do the visit justice, give yourself plenty of time. The zoo is huge, and if you’re with kids, plan for at least three hours, if not half a day, to explore without rushing. With expansion underway for a new African elephant habitat, it’s clear the zoo continues to grow and improve. There’s an impressive variety of animals. The hippos, rhinos, crocodiles, and zebras caught my attention early on. The aviary stood out, featuring a wide range of colorful and exotic bird species in a spacious walk-through setting that lets you observe them up close. There were also hands-on educational opportunities, including brief encounters with an owl (nice 270 degrees head turn) and even the chance for visitors to touch a snake. The safari truck ride was decent, perhaps a bit less thrilling than expected, but still enjoyable. A real highlight was briefly feeding the giraffes, which was a memorable experience. Food options were plentiful, with restaurants, fast-food outlets, and kiosks scattered throughout. We had Mexican food, which hit the spot. The free train ride was a lifesaver, especially for families, offering a relaxing way to navigate the expansive grounds. Overall, had a good time.”

“The last time I visited this place was over 25 years ago as in back in 2000 or so! It’s very nice and exceptionally clean. The staff are, for the most part, well trained and genuinely welcoming, especially the local team members! The animals appear well cared for, and there is a good balance of food outlets and on-site teams across the park. The food outlet prices are VERY affordable unlike the usual case for many zoos around the world (Copenhagen, Prague, US….etc) My only downside is the size. It can feel a little too spread out at times. In terms of suggestions: Fixed schedules for the train and shuttle golf carts would improve the experience as well as allowing booking the VIP club car for more than 90 minutes , and finally a wider variety of animals would be a welcome addition overall :) I would come here again!”
