We recently visited Dalma Island museum and had a truly wonderful experience The guide service was very supportive and friendly. She explained the complete history of the island — from its origin to the present day — in a very simple and interesting way. It really helped us understand and enjoy the place more. We went on a Saturday, they organize art and craft programs for kids every Saturday. The guide kindly invited my daughters to join the session, and they were so excited to take part! The craft activity was dress designing, and it was beautiful to see even very young kids participating and enjoying. The guide managed everything perfectly and gave attention to every child. Overall, it was a memorable and educational experience for our family. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dalma Island — especially families with kids! 💖

Saturday visits unlock children's craft activities. Requires a boat trip from the Abu Dhabi mainland, making this a planned half-day excursion rather than a casual drop-in.

Delma Museum, situated on Delma Island approximately 42 kilometers off Abu Dhabi’s coast, offers a captivating glimpse into the region’s rich maritime heritage and the island’s historical significance. Historical Significance Housed in the former residence of renowned pearl merchant Mohammed bin Jasim Al Muraikhi, the museum showcases the island’s prominence in the pearl trade during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The building itself, constructed between the late 1800s and early 1900s, exemplifies early coastal architecture, featuring traditional elements such as a majlis (reception room) and a badkesh (windcatcher) designed to cool interiors. Exhibits Visitors can explore a diverse collection of artifacts, including pearling equipment, stone anchors, and traditional date presses (midbasah) used for producing date syrup. These items were either unearthed during the building’s restoration or generously donated by local residents, providing insights into the daily lives and trades of the island’s past inhabitants. Restoration Efforts The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) undertook significant restoration work from 2019 to 2021 to preserve the museum’s structural and historical integrity. Innovative conservation methods were employed to address issues like rising dampness, ensuring the longevity of this cultural landmark. Visiting Information To visit Delma Museum, you can take a water ferry from Al Dhana, with a journey time of approximately two hours. Ferries depart daily at 7 am and 1 pm, with return trips from Delma Island at 10 am and 4 pm. Tickets are priced at AED 20 for adults, and children under 12 can travel for free. An additional fee of AED 100 applies if you wish to bring your car. It’s advisable to check the latest schedules and book tickets through the Abu Dhabi Maritime website.

The house of My great grand father Mohamed Jassem Al Meraikhi was turned into a Museum. Something I would cherish for the rest of my life, and have respect for. May God bless his soul.
