A must destination for lovers of old and unusual cars. Rare and expensive vehicles in excellent condition. The location is a bit out of the way, but for real fans it shouldn't be a problem

I heard about this museum by chance. A friend who lives in the UAE suggested that I visit it. My expectations were not high, especially after a long drive through the desert, but this turned out to be an absolute hidden gem. In addition to the collection of vehicles, functionally and logically organized, the story of Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan, The Rainbow Sheikh, fascinated me the most. In any case, absolutely worth a visit.

My husband and I visited the museum early on a weekend morning, around 10 AM. We paid for both of us at the entrance (I don’t recall the exact amount), and since there were no other visitors at that time, we were able to park close to the museum building. We visited in April, and it was already quite warm—so I highly recommend bringing a bottle of water with you. The museum itself is spacious, with a fascinating collection of unique and antique cars. Be prepared to walk a lot to explore everything! Even in the morning, it felt a bit hot inside. I believe the air conditioning system is a bit outdated and doesn’t cool the space very well, which made the visit a bit uncomfortable at times. That said, I really enjoyed the overall experience. While it might not be the kind of place you’d return to multiple times, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in automotive history or just want to see something different. I’d recommend it for car enthusiasts and curious minds alike.

Overview

Emirates National Auto Museum sits in the Abu Dhabi desert along the road to Liwa, housing the personal collection of Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan — the Rainbow Sheikh. Exhibits span rare vintage cars in showroom condition, oversized custom trucks, military vehicles, and unique one-of-a-kind creations. The collection is logically organised across spacious indoor and outdoor areas. The remote desert location is part of the experience, with the drive itself forming a scenic approach.
