📍 Al Qouz Ind.first, Dubai
Independent cinema in Alserkal Avenue screening international art house films and curated series. Single intimate screen, on-site café, exact start times. Parking in the Alserkal precinct is tight on busy nights.
Small anti-Hollywood cinema in the heart of Dubai cultural life. Fantastic programmations. Currently the event of the year not to miss. A series of Palestinian movies everyone need to watch. I started with The Clown Of Gaza. The heartbreaking story of the real life of a wonderful human being…A MUST!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for culturally curious families with children aged 8 and above who are ready for films beyond mainstream animation and action. The programming skews toward adult art house content, so check specific screenings before booking with younger children.

“What a lovely experience, it was so nice to have experienced a film here it was such the ideal spot for movie lovers. They had popcorn nachos and so much other options. The theatre itself was sooooo nice, but the couches were a bit uncomfortable, the screen and sound system were great tho. Overall great experience.”

“Cozy art house cinema. Good to have this in Dubai. The snacks are great too. Beware that, unlike virtually every other cinema, the movie may actually start exactly at the announced time! 🙂”

“Amazing place with a chance of watching old movies on the big screen. One small detail; the sofa's frame was hard, it wasn't a comfortable seat. But I can change seat! Another small thing; parking is a nightmare.”

Overview
Cinema Akil programs what mainstream UAE multiplexes don't: art house releases, international documentaries, and dedicated film series — currently focused on Palestinian cinema. The single-screen format creates an intentionally intimate atmosphere. The café stocks popcorn, nachos, and drinks. Sofa seating has been noted as firm by multiple reviewers, and the venue carries a faint smell according to some visitors. Films start at the exact scheduled time without pre-roll previews.
