During our trip to Dubai last year with my wife, we visited the iconic Atlantis, The Palm, and it was truly an experience like no other. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this luxury resort is anything but short of awe—it’s grand, opulent, and offers everything you could possibly want from a 5-star hotel. Yes, it’s on the expensive side. The hotel itself is stunning, with its distinctive architecture and breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by a massive, opulent lobby with a view of the beautiful aquarium, setting the tone for the luxury experience throughout the resort. The attention to detail in the design and décor is exceptional, making it feel like you're in a world of your own. One of the highlights of Atlantis is the wide range of activities and amenities. From the famous Aquaventure Waterpark to the Lost Chambers Aquarium, there’s something for everyone. The dining options are also top-notch, with a variety of restaurants serving gourmet food from all over the world. Whether you’re indulging in a fine dining experience or grabbing a casual bite, the quality and variety of food were exceptional. The hotel also boasts stunning beaches, where you can spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying the sun and the clear waters. The Atlantis and The Palm is a destination in itself, and if you’re looking for a lavish getaway in Dubai, you won’t find anything quite like it.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children under 8 who are experiencing an aquarium for the first time. The tunnel format puts marine life at eye level, which is genuinely captivating for young children. Older children and teens who have visited larger aquariums may find the size underwhelming.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Combine the aquarium with Aquaventure Waterpark for a full day at the resort rather than visiting the aquarium alone
Arrive early in the day before resort foot traffic peaks — the tunnels feel more immersive with fewer crowds
🎟️Purchase aquarium tickets in advance online to avoid resort queuing
🚗The aquarium is fully indoors and air-conditioned — a practical option during peak summer heat

Overview

The Lost Chambers Aquarium runs through the interior of Atlantis, The Palm, with walk-through acrylic tunnels placing visitors directly among sharks, rays and thousands of exotic marine species. The architecture draws on an underwater Atlantis myth — majestic arches and aquatic mosaics line the passageways. The experience is compact relative to standalone aquariums, making it manageable with young children who have short attention spans.
