📍 Al Sajaa, Sharjah
Small interactive zoo in Al Sajaa where children can place birds on their hands and heads, feed goats and rabbits, and enter dedicated cat and dog areas. One small camel and ponies on site. Ages 2 and up.
Great winter outing for kids. Amazing place to have an up close and personal experience with the animals. Great place to sit around, have some stuff from the cafe including karak and coffee or fries etc. I have been here twice so far and the time does fly by past. It's a convenient, clean and family friendly space. I used to love the Ajman Pygmy zoo as well but that closed down unfortunately.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
The strongest pick for toddlers and under-6s who want direct animal contact rather than viewing behind barriers. Children aged 2 to 5 consistently get the most from the hands-on bird and petting areas.

“Pygmy Zoo Sharjah offers a pleasant family-friendly experience, especially for visitors with young children. Compared to its previous location, the zoo is noticeably smaller. The reduction is quite evident in areas such as camel and horse riding, as well as in some other animal enclosures. While the overall space feels more compact, the zoo still manages to provide engaging activities for kids. One of the highlights is the bird-feeding experience and the opportunity to take photos with birds, which is both interesting and memorable. Animal feeding is another enjoyable activity for children, allowing them to interact closely with animals, although the number of animals available for feeding is limited. The new location is a major improvement. It is much easier to access from both Dubai and Sharjah, making it convenient for families planning a short visit. Facilities inside the zoo are well thought out, with a cafeteria and a small grocery shop available, which adds to visitor comfort. A prayer facility is also provided, which is appreciated by many families. Kids’ activities are something new compared to before and were clearly enjoyed by children. The bouncy castle and inflatable slides are particularly popular and keep kids entertained for a good amount of time. In terms of pricing, the general entry ticket is AED 20 for adults and AED 15 for kids. Most activities require individual tickets costing around AED 15 each, which can add up but allows visitors to choose activities selectively.”

“Its a Mini zoo. The main highlight of the zoo is that we can touch and feed some of the birds and domestic animals as well as wild animals . We can buy the feeding items inside the zoo, that means outside food is not allowed for the birds and animals. Also there is a bije riding area for kids and play area too which is another highlight of this zoo. There was a stage show for kids with lots of games in the middle of the zoo. Also many food counters are available. Rest rooms are clean and hygienic. Prayer room is there. Parking is free of charge. This zoo is situated inside the Livestock market Sharjah.”

Overview
Pygmy Zoo puts animals directly in children's hands — an open bird enclosure lets kids hold and pose with birds, as separate zones for cats, dogs, goats, rabbits, and ponies allow close-up interaction throughout the visit. A small camel rounds out the animal roster. Feeding supplies must be bought on-site. A bike riding area and occasional stage shows with games add activity beyond the animal zones. The café serves karak, coffee, and snacks.
