But the moment those horses are loaded into the gates, all the glamour fades away and it's just down to pure sport. And the riders? Absolutely fearless. You can see the raw power required just to stay in the saddle, let alone steer and strategize. I was particularly impressed by the jockeys who rode brilliantly and tactically , holding their horse back before unleashing a devastating burst of speed in the final furlong. The bond between the jockey and their horse is palpable. They cross the finish line as one unit, a team working in perfect harmony. It's a thrilling reminder of why this is called the Sport of Kings.”
