Really nice chill spot in Sharjah Perfect for an evening walk or just sitting and enjoying the view. The skyline and water look amazing especially around sunset. The place is clean, calm, and not too crowded, which makes it great to relax and clear your mind. There are good walking paths, benches, and lots of open space. Sometimes there are small events happening which is a nice bonus. Also a great place to take photos 📸 Overall a very relaxing place to hang out with friends or family. Definitely worth a visit if you’re around Sharjah.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families after a free, unhurried outdoor visit — evening walks along the canal with the lit flagpole and skyline are the highlight. Open space suits younger children running freely. There are no structured play facilities, so families with playground-dependent toddlers should combine it with a nearby park.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Visit at sunset for the best combination of creek reflections and flagpole lighting
The canal walkway and running track loop makes a natural route — do the full circuit before settling on a spot
🎟️Weekday visits are noticeably quieter than weekends; arrive early on Fridays to secure a good spot

The Flag Island boasts the U.A.E. Flag on a 123 meter- high pole, which was named the world’s 7th tallest during the opening on the 2nd of December 2012. The Flag Island is a destination where design, fitness and leisure intersect to offer an unparalleled experience for the public in Sharjah and the U.A.E. The 630 metres synthetic track and other exercise equipments offer convenience to do workout with beautiful view of the creek.

One of the best places in Sharjah to relax and unwind! Perfect for walking, running, playing, or doing some light exercises. Kids enjoyed their time peacefully in the open areas. The newly added canal walkway makes the place even more refreshing and beautiful!

Flag Island is one of the most peaceful and scenic spots in Sharjah. The massive UAE flag standing tall against the skyline creates a strong sense of national pride. The walking paths are clean and well-maintained, making it perfect for evening strolls, light jogging, or spending quality time with family. The views of Al Noor Mosque and the surrounding waterfront are especially beautiful at sunset. The open green spaces make it ideal for relaxing, picnics, or simply enjoying fresh air away from city traffic. Parking is convenient, and the area feels safe and family-friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, picturesque outdoor experience in Sharjah.

Overview

Flag Island sits on Sharjah's waterfront with unobstructed creek and skyline views. The centrepiece 123-metre flagpole was the world's 7th tallest at its December 2012 inauguration. A 630-metre synthetic running track circles the island, and the Al Liyyah canal walkway extension adds a separate promenade route lined with seating. Green open areas cover most of the interior. A restaurant and benches are distributed across the site.
